A gentle at-home grooming routine

Grooming doesn't have to be a wrestling match. With the right tools and an unhurried approach, a few minutes of brushing can become one of the calmest parts of your day together.
Start short and positive
Begin with brief sessions in a relaxed spot. Let your pet sniff the tools first, and keep things gentle and unhurried.
Match the tool to the coat
A comb works through tangles, a slicker lifts loose hair, and a soft bath brush helps on wash day. Regular brushing keeps loose hair off the sofa, too.
Nails, a little at a time
Trim just the tips, a small amount at a time, with a clipper that has a safety guard. If you're unsure, your groomer or vet can show you the angle.
End on a good note
Finish while your pet is still relaxed. Consistency, not length, is what makes grooming feel familiar and calm over time.
This is everyday coat care — it isn't a treatment for skin or medical conditions. For anything that looks irritated or unusual, check with your veterinarian.
